VERSE:
1 John 1:8–If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
TRUTH:
“I’m not so bad, there are plenty of people around who do worse things than I do.” I’ve said this before, have you? It’s a lie, pure and simple. We are all sinners in need of God’s forgiveness and grace. If we tell ourselves anything else, we’re lying to ourselves. We must be honest with ourselves about who we are and what we’ve done. Then, we must be honest with God. We may not be perfect, but praise God, we can be forgiven!
RESPONSE:
Father, I am not perfect and any attempt to tell myself that I am is doomed to failure. You are truth and You are forgiveness. I will not deceive myself thinking that I am better than I am. I am not. Thank You for Your grace for me, a sinner.
