Christian Devotional – May 25, 2019

Do you use the gift that God has given you? No matter how you believe you receive your spiritual gifts, the fact remains that those who have accepted Jesus Christ into their life have been given a spiritual gift that God desires to use and work through them. Paul reminded Timothy of this very fact in 1 Timothy 4:14.

Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, which was bestowed on you through prophetic utterance with the laying on of hands by the presbytery.

Now as I mentioned, there has been a lot of debate among various denominations regarding how people receive their spiritual gifts. However, in looking at this text, it’s important to realize that Paul is reminding Timothy not to neglect his gift. It was a gift that was bestowed upon him and as a result he has an obligation to continue using it to glorify God. His spiritual gift should not be neglected.

Do you know what spiritual gifts you have? Are you familiar with how God wants to use you to glorify himself and reach others for Jesus Christ? The question becomes, are you using it or are you neglecting that gift? As you go through your day-to-day, remember that God has gifted you with a opportunity to show Him to those people we are around. Are we doing that?
