Who is God? Day 9

God is our defense. Read Nahum 3:11-15.

The prophet Nahum continues to tell the people of the destruction that is coming. He ends up discussing the fact that Nineveh will do their very best to build up their own defenses. They will do everything they can to protect themselves. They will reinforce their borders. They will build up their gates. But in the end, none of that will matter, because God is going to judge them.

Even though Nineveh was doing everything from a defensive standpoint that they could think of, we have to remember that God is our defense. He is the one who protects us. He is the one who builds our defenses. If something happens to us and we are attacked, God is the one who is to respond. We can try all we want, but there is no response like God’s response.

When we are going through life and the difficulties that we have, we can count on God to defend us. We are going to be attacked. We’re going to have things come against us. If we are following Christ, we can expect to have difficulties and challenges come our way. We are not responsible for defending ourselves. The people of Nineveh were trying to defend themselves and they were failing. We don’t need to even bother trying to defend ourselves. God will defend us and he won’t fail. God is our defender into everything that we do.
