The Vision, Day 20
Do we see ourselves? Read Ezekiel chapter 20.
The people were coming to inquire of the Lord, but the Lord wasn’t going to listen to them. They had their opportunity to come before him, and they had chosen instead to continue in their sin and not seek his repentance. Interestingly, God makes the statement that they needed to remember their conduct and loathe themselves for what they have done.
Sometimes we have to help people understand that they are lost before they can be saved. In the world we live in, people tend to think that they are OK and doing OK. They know they have problems, but they don’t understand their need for a Savior. Before we can explain the way of salvation, we must help them realize what Jesus Christ has done in their lives. We have to help them understand just how sinful they are. They must understand their need, or else the sacrifice of Jesus Christ means nothing to them.
These people had to get to the place where they loathed themselves for their sin, and we have to help people understand the same. We must do this in a loving and caring way with the goal to see them restored to Jesus Christ. If people think everything is okay, then they don’t understand just how desperately they need a Savior. Do we hate our sin as much as God does?
