Blessed is the Word, ג

Open my eyes. There are so many things that God’s Word can show us, but we have to be open to them. Read Psalm 119:17-24.

Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.

So many times we think that we can just open the Bible and automatically God speaks. While that is true, we must realize that unless God opens our eyes, we will not understand the depth of what we read. We need the Holy Spirit to help us understand how to apply what God has to say. Only as we allow God to shape us will we see God’s Word truly open up to us to understand all that God has to say to us.
