The Vision, Day 13
Liars. Read Ezekiel chapter 13.
The land was full of prophets. The problem was that most of the prophets were not actually prophets of God. Instead, they would put together their own vision or desire for the people, and then they would tell it to them using God’s name. Saying that God had spoken to them. Lying to the people about what they were to be doing.
It’s so hard to live the way God wants you to live, when you have so many different people spouting ideas about what God has actually said. The people in this day and time we’re reliant on the prophets to understand God’s word. For us we also are reliant on our prophets (or in today’s terms, our pastors and preachers), but we also have God’s word that we can go and study for ourselves.
Just because something is said by a pastor doesn’t mean that it’s from the Lord. We have to be willing to test everything that we are told next to the truth of God’s word. If what a pastor or preacher says doesn’t line up with the word of God, they should be confronted and we should be wary of listening to them.
God’s word is truth and we have a higher responsibility because we have been entrusted with the word of God. Because we have God’s word, woe to us if we don’t follow what is shared within it.
