The Weeping Prophet, Day 11

The plot. Read Jeremiah chapter 11.

Jeremiah was being obedient to God and prophesying to the people exactly what God had shared with him. However, not everyone liked his message. A group of individuals made a plot to assassinate Jeremiah. God, of course, knew of the plot and made Jeremiah aware of it. How did Jeremiah respond? Jeremiah didn’t try to take vengeance himself or try to get even. Jeremiah turned them back over to God and asked that God take care of the situation.

We never have to defend ourselves. No matter what we are going through, if we are following Christ and doing what he has us to do, he will defend us. He will make sure others and situations are dealt with. When we are following God, people who oppose us are actually opposing God. As a result, it’s God who should be the one to address them. We never have to try to defend God. God is perfectly capable of defending himself.

Are we following God? If so, we are probably experiencing challenges and trials. Are we allowing God to defend us through those?
