Christian Devotional – October 19, 2014

Read Colossians chapter 2

VERSE:

Colossians 2:6-7–So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

TRUTH:

Our coming to Christ is not a one-time thing. Yes, we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives and are saved, but we continue to live in Him day by day. We must be rooted in Christ, built up in Christ, strengthened by Christ. How do we do this? We must be taught. Receiving Christ is the single most important decision in our lives, but after that, we must choose to surround ourselves with Godly people that we can learn from and grow with. Do we have people who strengthen our faith and teach us and hold us accountable to a thankful Christian life?

RESPONSE:

Father, I want to thank You for Jesus Christ and my decision to follow Him. I also want to thank You for my spiritual family and those who have taught me, led me, prayed with me, rejoiced with me, and helped me to stand firm in the faith. Continue to strengthen those relationships and grow them as You grow each of us.
