Christian Devotional – October 2, 2018

Stop working so hard! That may seem a strange thing to say, but often we are busy working hard to try to earns God’s love and favor. Even those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord spend too much time “working” to please Him. See what it says in Hebrews chapter 10.

For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near.

All those rules that the Jewish people had were only a shadow of what God desires to do in our lives. Those laws couldn’t save us. They were put in place to help us realize that we can never be good enough and need saving. Do we accept God’s gift and do we allow Him to live through us? Only He can live the life that is pleasing to Him.
