It takes time. Just because we ask Jesus into our heart doesn’t mean we automatically know everything we should be doing as a believer. Read Galatians 1:18-20.

Then three years later I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and stayed with him fifteen days. But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother. (Now in what I am writing to you, I assure you before God that I am not lying.)

Paul took time. Paul didn’t immediately run out and start preaching. He knew he needed to better understand and grow into his faith and so he took time to do that. He gave himself permission to learn and apply these truths to his own life first before he made the transition to preaching and teaching about them.

Do we study God’s Word to apply it in our own lives? Then after we’re working to apply it, do we share it? We’ll never be perfect this side of heaven, but we are to be diligent about making progress and seeking him more and more. Then we can share with others our journey and progress.
