Run away! In Proverbs chapter 7, the entire chapter deals with the enticement of lust. The young man in the chapter falls into the sin that is chasing him and seeking his destruction. He goes without considering the consequences of his actions and does see that he trades long-term happiness for short-term satisfaction. How often do we lower our standards to accept the things in life that provide immediate, but temporary, pleasure? Yet, doing this means that we sacrifice long-lasting joy and peace. Solomon encourages all people not to be taken in by the flashy and seductive things in this world that promise immediate gratification. Only through Christ will we find satisfaction and joy that lasts.
