Why should the rich take pride in their position as children of God and not in their riches? The answer is right here in this verse. Riches are here one moment and gone the next! Just as investment brokers for Wall Street and they can tell you how the make and then lose money in an instant, circumstances happen and change in an instant that results in a quick swing of who is rich and who is not. The rich person who focuses on their money and takes pride in what they have, will quickly find themselves lost when something happens to their money. Rich or poor, we are to take pride in our relationship to God as the only thing that is stable and secure in this world.

I will trust in You for my security and know that You can do whatever You like with the possessions that You allow me to have. May You be glorified in everything that I do, including how I use the money You’ve provided to me.
