Read 2 Samuel chapter 2

VERSE:

2 Samuel 2:6–May the Lord now show you kindness and faithfulness and I too will show you the same honor because you have done this.

TRUTH:

David continued to show honor and respect for Saul’s memory. He blessed the men who had gone and buried Saul. David knew how important it was to have received the anointing of the Lord as Saul had, and He desired that people still show respect for Saul. We must respect the position that God has allowed people to be in, even if we don’t agree with them. God has all authority and we must trust Him and His timing regarding leaders and those in authority.

RESPONSE:

Father, I may not agree with those in leadership over me all the time, but I will respect them. I follow You first and foremost in my life and I stand for the things You stand for. However, I will not rejoice in the destruction of others. I will respect the position even if I don’t agree with the person.
