Devotional – April 24, 2012

VERSE:
1 Kings 16:34–In his days Heil the Bethelite built Jericho; he laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and he set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

TRUTH:
God had promised, through Joshua in Joshua 6:26; that this evil city was not to be rebuilt. He promised tragedy for the person who did it. Several hundred years later, these promises were fulfilled. God keeps his promises and we are to be mindful of His warnings for there is not an expiration date on them. Sin is sin, no matter when it’s done.

RESPONSE:
Lord, Your promises are true and are to be taken seriously. I pray You will keep Your promises for Your glory and that You will help me to be obedient to You.
