    Christian Devotional – June 6, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 137 VERSE: Psalm 137:5–If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. TRUTH: This chapter, written while the Israelites were in exile in Babylon, is a reminder of how very important Jerusalem was to them. The idea for us, is that Jerusalem represented the place of God’s presence in their lives. We are to remember and rest in God’s presence and His peace. We must continue to see Him at work in our lives every day. If we forget that, then we might as well forget everything else that we have known, for nothing else matters outside of our relationship with God. RESPONSE: Father,…

Read Judges chapter 16 VERSE: Judges 16:20–The she said, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him. TRUTH: To me, this is one of the saddest verses in the Bible. The idea that Samson, a man used mightily by God would get to the place where he wouldn’t even realize that God was not with him is so incredibly sad. We must be careful not to fall into the same trap. We go through our day each day and just move from one thing to…

VERSE: Exodus 33:15–Then Moses said to Him, “If Your presences does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” TRUTH: Moses knew that they needed to remain in the presence of the Lord. He wanted to go where He went, but he would only go if God’s presence went too. Do we look for and along with the presence of God? Are we adamant about staying in the presence of God? Sometimes we can get so distracted that we step away from God’s presence. How soon do we realize we’ve moved and how quickly do we return? RESPONSE: Father, Your presence is the only place I want…

VERSE: Exodus 13:21–By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. TRUTH: The Lord brought them out from all that they had known and was leading them to a land they had never seen. He didn’t just give them directions and leave them to find their own way. He walked with them one step at a time, leading them the whole way. God does the same with us today. He has a path and a plan for us, but…

VERSE: Acts 14:17–Yet He has not left Himself without testimony; He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. TRUTH: No matter our circumstances God has worked in our life to testify of His great love for us. God gives us so many of the wonderful provisions and we should recognize and acknowledge His hand in all that we see around us. God loves us and He provides for us in so many ways that testify to His presence and mercy in our lives. RESPONSE: Father, You move and work in…

VERSE: 2 Chronicles 19:6–He told them, “Consider carefully hat you do, because you are not judging for mere mortals but for the Lord, who is with you whenever you give a verdict.” THUTH: Do we live each day thinking about the fact that God is with us as we go and do things? The Lord sees not only the deeds we do, but the motivation behind the deeds as well. We are to do as if God were watching our every action, whether anyone else is or not, because God is always watching. RESPONSE: Father, You are amazing and You are everywhere. You provide for me and You know whether…

VERSE: 2 Chronicles 16:9a–For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whoe hearts are fully committed to Him. TRUTH: God sees and knows what is in our hearts. He knows our motivations for all that we do and all that we want to do. The Lord is over all things and He will reward and strengthen those who are seeking after Him. Are we receiving His strength today? RESPONSE: Father, Your strength is all I need. You are all I desire. I take such comfort in knowing that You are looking at me throughout the day. I will seek Your help in everything that I…
