Christian Devotional – May 3, 2015
We’ve finished the 4th book in Psalm, so we’ll take another quick break before heading back to finish Psalm. Read 2 Timothy chapter 1 VERSE: 2 Timothy 1:5–I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. TRUTH: What is your family legacy? Paul is reminding Timothy here that his legacy was one of belief in Christ. For those of us who have been blessed to have a legacy of family who have been believers and followers in Christ, that’s a huge blessing. However, regardless of whether we experienced that blessing or…

VERSE: 2 Chronicles 35:27–all the events, from beginning to end are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. TRUTH: If someone were to write the story of our life, what would be found there in the pages? Would we be listed as a person who sought God? Whether our lives are being actively recorded by pen and paper or not, we must realize that God keeps record of our life. What will be included and will it show dedication and obedience to Him? RESPONSE: Father, I praise You and lift You up. You see all things and know the entire story of my life and You…

VERSE: 1 Chronicles 24:19–This was their appointed order of ministry when they entered the temple of the Lord according to the regulations prescribed for them by their ancestor Aaron, as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded him. TRUTH: God had given Aaron a plan and order for how to carry out the responsibility of ministry. Generations later, that was still being held to and obeyed. Why? The descendants had been taught not only what to do, but their elders had conveyed the passion for why to do it as well, otherwise the actions would have fallen by the wayside after a couple of generations. As we experience the wonders…

VERSE: 1 Chronicles 3:9–All these were the sons of David, besides his sons by his concubines. And Tamar was their sister. TRUTH: This chapter lists the royal line of King David and his sons. Interestingly, and unusually, this chapter contains the names of several women who are listed as wives and sisters. Some of these women are known from elsewhere for positive reasons, such as Abigail. Others have less happy stories associated with them such as Tamar. For others, this is the only place they are mentioned. Still, God thought enough of them to be mentioned and remembered. How will we be remembered as others look back on our life…

VERSE: 1 Chronicles 1:1–Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah. TRUTH: More people were born besides just this direct list from Adam to Noah (Genesis 5), but they are not included and are altogether forgotten by the time this book was written. Why? Because of sin and disobedience, they were wiped out in the flood and only Noah, because of his faithfulness to God, remained. What will our legacy be? Generations later will we be remembered because of our faithfulness to God or will our memory be wiped out and forgotten because of our disobedience? RESPONSE: Father, I want my legacy to be one of You so…
