Now, we can certainly use a lot of words, but the psalmist chose to be very direct in his communication in the chapter. God is loving and faithful, and we can expect that to never change. Are we resting in the consistency of who God is and how he wants to work in our lives?

We often think of God as our savior and the one who comes to our help when we are in distress, but often that’s more about us praying to God for help and listing out the reasons and the ways that we need his help. Here, we see that God is actually saving us from a great many things that we aren’t even aware of. We don’t always have to pray and ask for God’s help to save us. Psalm and Praise, Day 115 We become like what we praise. Read Psalm chapter 115. The psalmist writes about praising the Lord, but then he goes into a description of the idols that others worship. It’s a great reminder that we become what we praise and value. When the people praised and valued the idols that can’t see, can’t hear, and can’t do anything, they became like that. Will we be focused on praising the Lord and him alone?

Psalm and Praise, Day 114 The earth praises God. Read Psalm chapter 114. It is never just us that praise God. God created the earth and so it also will praise God. The earth understands who it’s creator is. The earth is always trembling before the holy God. Will we recognize what the earth already knows? Will we praise God as he is worthy of praise?

Psalm and Praise, Day 112 No fear. Read Psalm chapter 112. I would like to be able to say that this describes me, but most days I am afraid of hearing the next piece of terrible news. I know that God has all of it handled, but I just get tired of having to deal with the difficult news and problems. I almost just expect bad things to happen. God is still God, even when it is not the news I wanted. Am I trusting in him, even in the dark times?

Psalm and Praise, Day 110 Rule over enemies. Read Psalm chapter 110. As we read through this very famous chapter in psalms, we understand that God is truly going to rule over everything. There’s nothing that is outside of God’s control or rule. When he insists that we call him Lord, it is because that is his truest title over absolutely everything. Are we treating him as Lord and giving him the glory that is due him? Are we allowing him to make the decisions that he deserves to make in our lives? Ours is simply to obey, are we doing that?

Psalm and Praise, Day 109 I love the honesty in the psalms. Read Psalm chapter 109. As we see the author here, he is going through difficulties and has many enemies. He is very honest with God about his feelings and frustrations. It hurts to have people against you. This psalmist wanted God to get the glory and knew that because of the issues. God was not. He prayed through his feelings. Are we honest with God about our feelings and about how others are standing in the way of all that He is doing? Will we bring our feelings to him today so that he can address them.
