Full Faith, Day 13 Relationship. Read Colossians 3:18-25. Over the years, these verses have been read and studied and discussed a lot regarding the nature of the relationship between a husband and wife. While this can be the subject of much debate in our culture, God is very clear that the husband is to be the head of the household and to follow Christ as he leads his family. The wife is to support her husband as they both lead their family together in following Christ. This can only be done through submission and love. These are crucial elements that cannot be ignored and we cannot go without. While the…

Full Faith, Day 12 The message of Christ. Read Colossians 3:12-17. Reading through these verses, we find ourselves staring at the opposite of what we have been reading the past several days. The last few days were all the ways in which we are sinful and these verses focus on what it means to allow Christ to live in our lives. The message of Christ, who he is, what he stands for, his character, all of these should be demonstrated in our lives as we interact with people. That is one way in which we live out the message of Christ. The other is that we share the reason why…

Full Faith, Day 11 The new self. Read Colossians 3:9-11. After dealing with the list of all the ways sin corrupts us, it can be easy to struggle with the idea of what to do next. How can we possibly overcome? God created a way for us to be able to overcome our sins and that is through Jesus Christ. Because of his sacrifice, we can get rid of our old self and put on a new self, him. As we allow Jesus Christ to live through us, we understand how to love those we thought were unlovable. We see how to forgive those who hurt us. All because Christ…

Full Faith, Day 10 What were you saved from. Read Colossians 3:5-8. As we read this next section, it serves as a stark reminder of the sin that prevailed in our lives before we came to Christ. We have to remember what we were saved from. Our faith is dependent on understanding the depth of the sacrifice that Christ made for us. We could never have bridged the gap between us and God ourselves. As we remember what we used to be, we can focus on how God has recreated us and given us the ability to overcome in his name.

Full Faith, Day 9 What do you set you heart on? Read Colossians 3:1-4. Because Christ died for us, we can set our minds on the things of heaven. Without that sacrifice we would have no way to be able to understand what God has for us. Our minds and our thoughts must be intentionally focused on him or else we will constantly slip and fall back into the earthly things around us. It’s so easy to be distracted by the things that we can see and smell and taste and touch, but God has so much more for us. He desires so much more for us. Are we willing…

Full Faith, Day 8 Know where you belong. Read Colossians 2:16-23. We are a people who have torn between two worlds. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, we belong to him. Our body and everything that we are a part of should be focused and dedicated to him and his purposes. Yet we still live in this world. Now we have to be careful to balance and understand how to live in this world while belonging to Christ. If we have submitted ourselves to Christ, then we are under his dominion and control. We are not under the control of any of the things of this world.…

Full Faith, Day 7 Dead and alive. Read Colossians 2:9-15. As we see Paul explain in these verses, our faith in Jesus Christ is purposeful. We are dead in our sins. When we think about the very sinful nature of who we are and all we do, we see that death is the very natural consequence of those sins. However, God sent Jesus Christ and because of him, we can be made alive. The only reason that we are alive is because of the grace of God. Are we living and sharing the good news with others? We were dead, but now we are alive.

Full Faith, Day 6 Rooted faith. Read Colossians 2:6-8. As we continue to read about the amazing faith these people had, we see that their faith is based on what they are rooted in. They are rooted in Christ so that they can be built up in and through him. Our faith is going to be seen based on what we have rooted our lives in. We will have faith in what we stand firm upon. That foundation is the basis for everything that we are built upon. What are we rooted in? Are we allowing our roots to grow deep and firm in the message in the knowledge of…

Full Faith, Day 5 Presence. Read Colossians 2:1-5. As Paul continues his discussion with the Colossians, he helps them to see that God’s presence is always with them. So, even though he cannot be with them in the spirit, he is still able to experience the blessing of their faith. When we think about faith, we have to understand that what we have faith in is generally not something we can see the presence of. God in our lives is not tangible but he is still very, very real. When we think about the importance of our faith being paramount in our lives, we must understand that faith is not…

Full Faith, Day 4 Not right with God. Read Colossians 1:21-29. As we read through the remaining verses in chapter one, we recognize that we did not always have faith. We were not born right with God. We were actually born sinful and alienated from God. Everything we did created problems with God and because of that, Jesus Christ came and died so that he could provide a way that we could be reconciled to God. We cannot make ourselves right on our own. We need God’s help. Our faith allows us to come before God and to believe that he bridges the gap that we could not bridge on…
