Read Genesis chapter 37 VERSE: Genesis 37:5–Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. TRUTH: Following God doesn’t mean you’ll be popular and well liked. In fact, often the exact opposite is true and you’ll be hated and despised because you follow God. Joseph experienced this. He had an experience with God and then went to share it with others and they hated him because of it. Read Psalm chapter 43 VERSE: Psalm 43:3–Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. TRUTH: We all need help to walk this Christian life. The psalmist is asking for light and faithful care that will lead and guide. There can be lots of reasons why we try to “do it ourselves.” Maybe we’ve been hurt by others, or maybe we don’t trust, but the bottom line is that we need other Christians in our life in order to help support, sustain, guide, and correct.
