    Christian Devotional – March 6, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 59 VERSE: Psalm 59:16–But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. TRUTH: David wrote this while he was being hunted and pursued to be killed. If we were in that situation, what would we be saying to God? Would we be singing and praising His strength or would we be whining about the situation and the circumstances we found ourselves in? The Lord desires that we praise Him, even in the midst of trials and hard times. Will we sing of His strength and love today? RESPONSE: Father, I…

Read Psalm chapter 58 VERSE: Psalm 58:3–Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies. TRUTH: It’s hard to imagine a little baby being evil, but God indicates that we all have a sin nature and that it is with us from the womb. We are all in need of salvation, even from our earliest days. Do we teach and share the truths of Jesus, even with the children. They need to know, too. RESPONSE: Father, I will teach and share You word with the children I come into contact with. They are as much in need of You as an adult.

    Christian Devotional – March 4, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 57 VERSE: Psalm 57:7–My heart, O God is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. TRUTH: When we are steadfast, we are consistent. A heart that is steadfast is consistently focused on God and all that He is and does. As we consistently focus on Him, our response will be to praise Him. We will see all that He has done for us and we will want to praise Him for everything. RESPONSE: Father, I will praise You. You are steady and consistent in Your love for me and I will teach my heart to be consistently focused on You. I love You…

    Christian Devotional – March 3, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 56 VERSE: Psalm 56:4–In God, whose word I praise–in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? TRUTH: This verse asks several key points in our relationship with God. Do we praise Him? Are we praising His word and how it impacts our lives every day? Are we afraid? If we are, that speaks to a lack of trust in God and who He is. The more we trust Him in every area of our lives, the less we will be afraid. Finally, do we recognize the difference in power and authority between God and the people we are around? God…

    Christian Devotional – March 2, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 55 VERSE: Psalm 55:22–Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. TRUTH: Where are we to cast our cares? We are to bring them to God. Often we get caught up complaining and whining to our friends, family members, and others that we forget to take our concerns to the only One who can actually do something about them. As we are trusting in God and leaning on Him, He will provide the foundation for our life that we need in order to be firm in everything that we do. Are we bringing our cares to…

    Christian Devotional – February 23, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 48 VERSE: Psalm 48:9–Within your temple, O God, we meditate on Your unfailing love. TRUTH: Similar to yesterday, do we take time to meditate on the Lord, His love, and all that He has done for us? In today’s society, as we rush around seeking the completion of the next thing on our “to-do” list, are we recognizing how God’s love permeates all that we think and do. I like the work “marinate” as a reference point for meditation. Do we spend time allowing the truths of God’s Word and His love to soak in and flavor every aspect of our life? His love changes lives. Has…

Read Psalm chapter 46 VERSE: Psalm 46:10–He says, “Be still, and know that I am God I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” TRUTH: In today’s society, the idea of being still is almost terrifying to people. We are a people who are on the go from the moment we wake up to the moment we fall exhausted back into bed. When we are busy with activity we find it difficult to remember that God is truly still God and that He is in control of all the things. When we take the time to stop and be still. We can truly reflect…

    Christian Devotional – February 20, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 45 VERSE: Psalm 45:7–You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy. TRUTH: What do we love? What do we hate? God both loves and hates certain things and we are to be aligned with Him to love righteousness as He does and hate wickedness as He does. By doing thin, we will experience the joy of the Lord in our lives as an anointing. RESPONSE: Father, I will look and will follow You. I will love what You love and hate what You hate. Keep me focused on You today and thank…

    Christian Devotional – February 19, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 44 VERSE: Psalm 44:3–It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their right arm bring their victory; it was your right hand, your arm and he light of your face, for you loved them. TRUTH: The psalmist was remembering the stories told of the great victories God had provided in the past. He recognized that it was not the people who had saved themselves, but it was God who had intervened in order to truly see and work to bring about victory. When we look back on the victories in our lives, do we see God’s hand and give Him credit and…

    Christian Devotional – February 18, 2015

Read Psalm chapter 43 VERSE: Psalm 43:3–Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. TRUTH: We all need help to walk this Christian life. The psalmist is asking for light and faithful care that will lead and guide. There can be lots of reasons why we try to “do it ourselves.” Maybe we’ve been hurt by others, or maybe we don’t trust, but the bottom line is that we need other Christians in our life in order to help support, sustain, guide, and correct. Jesus brings us the light through salvation, but we…
