Book Review – The Moose at the Manger by Lisa Tortorello

The Moose at the Manger

As Christmas approaches, I always enjoy seeing the children’s Christmas books. Sharing the beauty and wonder of Christmas with children is such a fun and exciting opportunity. Today, I am sharing with you one of those books that will be a new favorite of children everywhere: The Moose at the Manger by Lisa Tortorello.

Muse the Moose is traveling with her family and is excited about the upcoming Christmas holiday. While she is busy with her thoughts, she looses track of her family and finds herself alone. Scared, she turns to a bright star in the sky who promises to help her find her family, but on the way, she gets to visit the scene at the first Christmas and marvel at the peace and joy of the birth of our Savior.

I found this a cute and exciting take on how to share the story of Christmas with children. Being able to share the fear and then joy and finally relief of Muse as she goes through her adventures will capture the heart and imagination of children. I mean, who doesn’t want to travel with a star! The illustrations are beautiful and help to bring this delightful narrative to life.

Lisa also has a wonderful memoir, “My Hero, My Ding” and you can read my review about that book here. To learn more about The Moose at the Manger, check out Tate Publishing or Amazon.
