Christian Devotional – December 13, 2019

It’s time. When it comes to having babies, we often do not get to be the ones who pick the time. Babies decide when they are ready to come join the world. Read Luke 2:6.

While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

In the midst of all this chaos and traveling and counting, God decided it was exactly the right time for a baby to be born. His precious son Jesus Christ was born to Mary just as they were traveling to Bethlehem. We don’t know how long they had been there before she gave birth, but we know that it was during this crazy time full of chaos and movement.

So often, when God moves it’s never in a convenient or easy time. Often, God moves when it is going to bring him the most glory. Because God can move and work through any situation, anywhere, at any time, he uses the chaos and the craziness to demonstrate how he brings order and peace to everything. That’s what he did here. We don’t understand the timing, and I’m sure Mary had no idea why the time was when it was, but God knew. Do we understand God’s timing? No. Do we acknowledge and accept God’s timing? We need to.
