Day 10 – Work together. Many people worked side by side. Read Nehemiah 3:3-5.
Now the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate; they laid its beams and hung its doors with its bolts and bars. Next to them Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz made repairs. And next to him Meshullam the son of Berechiah the son of Meshezabel made repairs. And next to him Zadok the son of Baana also made repairs. Moreover, next to him the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not support the work of their masters.
Nehemiah 3:3-5 NASB
While the decision to follow God is an individual one, the work that God has us to do is rarely done by ourselves. God loves to bring people together to do the work that he has. When God gives us a vision and a purpose, typically, he brings alongside us people who are working toward the same vision and the same goal. We can work next to each other, just like these people building the wall.
Are we searching for those to work next to? Are we looking for others with similar purpose and calling that God has given us? Make no mistake, we still have a responsibility to do whatever God has told us to do regardless of whether we find someone else to be working with or not. But often, God will bring people to work alongside us for encouragement, support, protection, and efficiency. Who are we working next to today?
