Christian Devotional – March 8, 2019

Who wants to be a hero? In today’s culture we see lots of focus on superheroes. We have movies, books, comics, and even whole conventions where people dress up like them! The Bible talks about heros. Read James 5:19-20.

My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth and one turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

So how can you be a hero? According to these verses in James, if we are willing to help our fellow believers turn away from sin and turn back to God, that is what it means to be a hero. Do we love our fellow brothers and sisters enough to help them see when they are not following through on what they have said?

We have to be followers of the truth. Jesus Christ gave us his word for us to be able to live and become more like him every day. Are we seeking after Him ourselves and are we being open and honest with others, seeking to see them be their best? Will we be a hero who helps other believers turn back and continue following God?

As James closes out his book that is so focused on action and doing what we say we believe, this is his final charge. Pray for each other. Keep each other on the right path, following Christ.
