Read Job chapter 12

VERSE:

Job 12:5–Those who are at ease have contempt for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping.

TRUTH:

What does this verse really say? Basically, it’s saying that those people who seem to have good things going for them can often find themselves looking down on the people who are struggling in life, thinking that it’s all their own fault. We’ve all been on both sides of this statement. We’ve had times when things are going well for us and times when it feels like nothing can go right. The question and the learning here is, when we are on the high side of that swing, or when things are going well, do we look down on those around us and snub our noses at their situation? Do we assume that we’re better than they are just because of our life circumstance? This is a good reminder that God loves all of us, no matter what our life circumstances look like and that as His children, we are called to love everyone also. Will we see everyone as God seems them, not through their circumstances alone?

RESPONSE:

Father, help me to not get too focused on other people’s circumstances, but to always remain humble and focused on You. As I stay focused on You, You will help me to see people as You see them, not as the world teaches us to see people.
