I was walking through a Christian bookstore a couple of months ago and I came across “The Harvest of Grace” by Cindy Woodsmall. I am not familiar with her books or anything, but the synopsis on the back caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. I am glad that I did. I found out after the fact that this is the third book in a series for her, but she was gracious enough to include a brief overview of the preceeding books so that I would be able to easily fit right in to the story from the broader perspective. Even without that wonderful introduction to her other work, the book is an excellent read and can certainly stand on its own. The story is set in Amish country and Sylvia Fisher find herself in a unusual situation that unfortunately becomes worse and she finds herself going to another farm to get away from the situation. While there, she meets Aaron who is coming home trying to put right several wrongs from his past. The two have completely opposite goals and the story has them searching through those to find forgiveness and reconciliation.

I really enjoyed this book. I found it to be a quick and engaging read. I really connected with the characters and I felt that I really got to know them and understand them. I appreciate Cindy’s ability to craft a tale and her descriptions are complete, but not overbearing.

I am very glad I picked up this book and I look forward to reading more by her in the future. You can find “The Harvest of Grace” at Amazon and other christian book retailers.
