Devotional – February 14, 2012

VERSE:
Job 29:14–I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and turban.

TRUTH:
Job is remembering what things were like in the “good ol’ days.” He lists all the things He’s been involved in and all the good that he has done. He was looked up to and respected by all people. When we go through tough times it can be easy to spend all our time looking backward and thinking how it was so much better then. Instead, we should be looking forward to our eternal reward for being faithful and obedient to God. Are we looking backward or forward today?

RESPONSE:
Lord, help me not to rest on my laurels and focus only on the past things I’ve done. I pray that I will focus today on the eternal and act in obedience to You. I want to live each day in Your obedience, no matter what circumstances are around me.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to all and I hope that You will remember that God loves you!
