Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 43

Upright character. Read Daniel 6:1-5.
A new king is on the scene. As we closed out chapter 5, we saw that the previous king had been killed, and a new king from a new kingdom is now in control. This new king has recognized the leadership that Daniel brings to his position, and he has given Daniel an opportunity to be in charge of several areas. God continues to bless Daniel, and people are noticing it. The king recognizes that anything he gives to Daniel will be blessed, so he starts to give Daniel more and more responsibility.
However, others don’t like that very much. And as a result, they seek to get Daniel out of the way. However, as they start looking for ways that they can disparage Daniel and mess up his reputation, it becomes very evident that Daniel has upright character, and they can’t find anything that would cause the king to not like Daniel.
Our character must be of the utmost and highest quality, so that we can represent Christ in every way. The only thing that these jealous men could find against Daniel was that he worshipped and followed God. That was the only way they were going to be able to find something to trip up Daniel.
Would the same be said for us? When we look at our lives and when other people look at our lives, if someone was angry or upset with us, what would they find to be able to disparage us? My prayer is that the only thing people would find in my life to disparage me would be the fact that I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Make that your prayer for today.
