Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 45

No change. Read Daniel 6:10.

What do you do when you receive word that the things that you thought you could do, your routine, and your rights and liberties have been changed? I will tell you what Daniel did. He kept doing exactly the same thing he had been doing. There was no change. Daniel heard about the new rule from the king. He understood what the new rule meant. But, he didn’t alter his routine, his beliefs, or his practice. Daniel was a follower of Christ and he was going to follow Christ no matter what the ruling from the king was.

We are all going to go through changes in leadership. However, how we allow that change in leadership to impact us, or to change us, is going to be key. Certainly there can be room for growth and opportunities to improve. However, a change in leadership should never change the core of who we are. It should not change our values, and it should not change our ethics. Daniel was going to continue to worship God, regardless of what new rule the king put in place. Do we have that same level of ethics and integrity?
