ADHD Gospel, Day 49

All the questions. Read Mark 12:1-34.
If you’ve ever been around a small child, you probably know what it feels like to get asked thousands of questions. Typically, these questions are all sincere and from a deep curiosity to know and understand the world around them. However, there are always the times that they just keep questioning because they haven’t received the answer they want. They keep questioning and keep questioning hoping to break down your resistance and talk you into whatever they are asking for.
For Jesus, this chapter is full of questions from various individuals. The religious leaders of the day know that Jesus is speaking against them and teaching the people differently from what they are, so they are asking questions trying to make him say something foolish. They are trying to trap him. They are not the sincere questions of a searching individual. They are the insincere questions of people who want something from Jesus. However, here at the very end, there is question from someone who is seeking. You can almost see the tone change in the way that Jesus responds to his question and in verse 30, we see that Jesus is giving him some wonderful advice and information so that he can continue to learn and grow as he keeps seeking God. We are to love God first and foremost in our lives. Nothing can take the place of that. Everything in our lives and in our world is to be measured by our love for God.
Are we seeking God with the same intensity that this last questioner was? If we are truly seeking God then He is patient with us and our thousands of questions. Even when we don’t completely know all the answers, we can always start with the answers that show our love for God. Are we loving God in everything that we do today?
