VERSE:
Micah 6:8–He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
TRUTH:
God doesn’t want us to be ignorant of the good things in this world. He has taken the time to show us what is good. We are to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. We know what He requires of us. The question is, are we doing these things? Since this isn’t really a to-do list, we can easily get distracted from all that we should be doing and end up spending our time on doing things that are not required of us by God. Are we following His requirements and are we making time each day to be sure and confirm that our actions and attitudes line up with these simple-sounding statements? This is, after all, what the Lord requires of us?
RESPONSE:
Father, I know that Your requirements sound simple, but they take discipline and practice to be sure that we are doing them. I know that we’re going to be following up on all that God has for us, but if we aren’t focused on Him, we will miss out on it. I will act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You today.
