Christian Devotional – February 1, 2020

Day 32 – Still opposition. Yep, even after Nehemiah finished the wall, he was still facing opposition. Read Nehemiah 6:17-19.

Also in those days many letters went from the nobles of Judah to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters came to them. For many in Judah were bound by oath to him because he was the son-in-law of Shecaniah the son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah. Moreover, they were speaking about his good deeds in my presence and reported my words to him. Then Tobiah sent letters to frighten me.

Now remember, the wall is already done. Nehemiah has successfully completed the work that God had set before him. He was obedient and he followed through. Yet, the opposition didn’t stop just because Nehemiah had completed the work. Sometimes we think that just because we’ve seen an amazing result from something God has done that we will no longer face opposition and difficulty. Not true. The enemy is still out there and still looking to discredit us and anything that we have been a part of. We have to continue to remain focused on Him. Tobiah was still sending letters to Nehemiah to make him afraid and cause him to act out of fear.

The enemy will continue to try to attack us. Are we ready? Are we keeping the same level of focus and diligence on God as when we were right in the thick of it? We have to! Even as God shows you the amazing things that He can do, stay focused on him and don’t forget that the enemy is still out there!
