Christian Devotional – December 19, 2012
VERSE: Leviticus 5:5–So it shall be when he becomes guilty in one of these, that he shall confess that in which he has sinned. TRUTH: Confession is the key when we have sinned. Even for Israel, prior to offering the sacrifices, they were to confess their sins. The Lord indicates that there will be forgiveness and restoration, but that only comes as the result of our confessing our sins. We must bring our wrongs before God and acknowledge them. Confession is calling our sins what God calls them. God promises forgiveness, if we will only confess. RESPONSE: Father, every day I slip and fall and make a wrong choice. I…

Christian Devotional – December 18, 2012
VERSE: Leviticus 4:27–Now if anyone of the common people sins unintentionally in doing any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and becomes guilty. TRUTH: When we do something wrong, whether we intend to do it or not, we are still guilty. God knows our intentions, but he also sees our deeds and the evil that we do and when we do those things. Bottom line: if we do wrong, we are guilty. God made a way for the people of Israel to be forgiven of their sins, even when they didn’t mean to do those things. Even when we didn’t mean to do wrong, we…

Book Review – Christmas Gift for Everyone by Bee Faith
I picked up Christmas gift for everyone by Bee Faith after a search on Amazon for a children’s Christmas book. I was taken by the beautiful illustrations. In this story, young Monica has been given a homework assignment to write a letter to Jesus asking for what she wants for Christmas. Monica’s grandpa has recently passed away and she is finding it difficult to know what to put in her letter. When she shares with her grandmother her sadness, her grandmother shares with her about the truth of who Jesus is and why he came to earth. She learns about the special map, the Bible, that tells everyone the…

VERSE: Leviticus 3:2–He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and slay it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood around on the altar. TRUTH: It’s important to realize that there had to be a personal connection between the person making the offering and the offering itself. The person couldn’t just send someone else to do it for him, each person had to connect with this offering; it had to be personal. Are we personal with what we offer to God? Or, do we just pick out something and the passively stand by while it’s given to…

Christian Devotional – December 16, 2012
VERSE: Leviticus 2:3–The remainder of the grain offering belongs to Aaron and his sons; a thing most holy, of the offerings to the Lord by fire. TRUTH: The grain offerings were different from the burnt offerings. With the grain offerings, only a portion was burned up in smoke, the rest was given to the priest. Still, the part that was burned wasn’t more holy or more special than the part that remained. The entire offering was considered holy. The person giving the offering gave and the entire offering was considered holy before the Lord, simply because it was given as an offering. RESPONSE: Father, I will give You what is…

VERSE: Leviticus 1:3–“If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer it, a male without defect; he shall offer it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.” TRUTH: The Israelite people were being instructed on the offerings to God. They were not required to bring this particular offering, but they could. If they chose to bring it, then there were certain instructions to follow so that their gift would be accepted. As we think about Jesus and all that He is as the perfect sacrifice, we see that He was without defect and that He is the…

Christian Devotional – December 14, 2012
VERSE: Acts 28:9–After this had happened, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases were coming to him and getting cured. TRUTH: Paul caused a stir everywhere he went. In this case, Paul had been part of a miracle on this island and the people heard about it and brought more people to him to heal. Do other people see us as the people who help others? Would people bring friends to us to hear about Jesus? RESPONSE: Father, I have Your words of encouragement and life. I will share them so that all I am around will know You and be drawn to You.

Christian Devotional – December 13, 2012
VERSE: Acts 27:36–All of them were encouraged and they themselves also took food. TRUTH: Paul, in the midst of a huge, life-threatening storm, shows confidence and gives encouragement to all those he was around. That’s what faith does to a person. Paul’s faith, based on the assurance of God, gave him the confidence to stand up and reassure others. Paul led by example and then the others followed. Do we share our faith with others as an encouragement to them? RESPONSE: Father, I praise You for being the steadfast substance of my faith. You are immovable and as a result, I will trust in You and share that hope and my…

VERSE: Acts 26:16–But get up on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister, and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you. TRUTH: Why does God reveal Himself to us? He does this so we can reveal Him to others. He wants us to share about what He’s done and what He’s doing for all people to hear. He shows us this, knowing that He is the one who is over all. Are we sharing with others what we have seen and heard Christ do for us?RESPONSE: Father,…

Blog Hop – “The Next Big Thing”
I thought we’d do a little something different today. I’ve been invited on a blog hop by author Troy Lewis and thought it sounded like fun, so I jumped in (or should I say “hopped”). Troy is the author of”Another Second Chance: God’s Story” which I reviewed here a week and a half ago. Fabulous book!Troy also has a blog and I recommend that you go and check out what he’s got going on over there as he also answered these questions last week: http://wwwanothersecondchanceorg.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-blog-hop-or-treasure-hunt-you-decide.html In the meantime, I’ve been given 10 questions to answer about myself below. Following that, I’m going to punt to some friends of mine and fellow…
