This verse is a reminder that life is short, and while we all know that and can speak the that, the reality is that we don’t really understand that. Moses asks God to teach him that life is short, which implies that he didn’t already truly understand that. But, once he does understand that, that is the path to wisdom. God’s name is now he chooses to lift the people up. It is only through his name that we are worthy. It is only through his name that our actions mean anything.
