Why do we ask God to save us? When we are experiencing difficulties, why do we desire God’s rescue?  Why should He rescue us? Read Psalm chapter 106. Save us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the nations, To give thanks to Your holy name And glory in Your praise. Do we seek the Lord? How often? It’s not enough to just seek Him every so often, we are to seek Him continually. See Psalm chapter 105. Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Psalms 105:4 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.105.4.NASB It’s easy to just look for God from time to time, when it’s convenient or when the mood strikes. But we are to seek Him continually. Every day. All day. Are we seeking God in our day to day life, every day?

Do we recognize the greatness of the Lord? When we are face to face with the glory of who He is and all that He has done, how do we respond? Look at Psalm 104. Bless the Lord , O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, Psalms 104:1 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.104.1.NASB Splendor and majesty are due Him, for He is amazing. Are we willing to praise Him and give Him the honor due His name? He deserves it and has earned every bit of praise and glory we present to Him!

God forgives sin. He knows that we are sinful and in need of a Savior and He offers salvation through Jesus Christ. See what he says in Psalm 103. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalms 103:12 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.103.12.NASB God then removes our sins from us. Just like east and west never meet again, so our sins are removed completely from us. We do not have to be enslaved by the memory of our sins, God has set us free!  

How will the next generation know about God? Only if we tell them. See what the psalmist says in Psalm 102. This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord . This way, others who have not yet been born, will be able to read about how God has impacted us and moved in our lives. Do we leave a testimony behind? What we think in our mind and in our heart, God knows. Not only does He know, but He will act on. See Psalm 101. Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure. Not only do we do what God desires that we do, but we are to do it for the same reasons that He does it. Have we checked our motivations lately? Would God be proud of them?

God made us. We didn’t randomly come together from cosmic spare parts. God had a plan and a design. See Psalm 100 Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. God desires that we love him back, but he makes it clear why he loves us in the first place. He made us. He is our Creator. Do we love Him?

What’s God done in the past? Knowing and understanding how God has responded in the past gives us insight into how He will respond in the future. God’s character doesn’t change. See what the psalmist says in Psalm 99. O Lord our God, You answered them; You were a forgiving God to them, And yet an avenger of their evil deeds. Psalms 99:8 NASB https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.99.8.NASB As the psalmist remembers what God has done in the past, he can have hope because God will continue to respond to situations according to His character. Do we know who God is? He hears and answers. He forgives. He gives hope. We can trust…

Many times we ask God for help when we are in trouble. Do we go back and praise him when God brings us through? Read Psalm 98. O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. Yet, after our prayer for help, do we come back and thank Him for doing all that He did during that time?

Who or what do we serve? When we slip and fall and put something or someone else on the throne of our heart besides God, do we recognize how serious that is and do we repent? See what the psalmist says in Psalm 97. Let all those be ashamed who serve graven images, Who boast themselves of idols; Worship Him, all you gods.
