ADHD Gospel, Day 2

Obedience. Read Mark 1:9-15.

When we talk about the book of Mark being a quick moving story of Jesus, these 7 verses are a perfect example. Within these 7 verses, we see Jesus baptized by John. We see Jesus tempted by satan. Then we read about Jesus beginning his preaching ministry. All of these events are in the span of 7 versus.

When we look at these all together, we see a bigger picture of the obedience of Christ. Christ was baptized in accordance with the obedience of the plan from his Father. Jesus was tempted by satan but continued to be faithful and obedient to the word of the Lord. Finally, Jesus was focused on fulfilling the purpose for him coming to Earth. He was sharing the good news and the message of Christ. Seven verses. Three areas of undeniable obedience.

Jesus came as the example and model of the life that we should live. We know we are sinful and not perfect and we’ll never be able to live up to his standards, but at the same time, it’s important to understand exactly what those standards are. We see Jesus consistently obedient to God in every area. When we look at our lives, no matter how chaotic and sporadic they may be, are we focused on a consistent theme of obedience? Following Jesus means living a life of consistent obedience.
