Christian Devotional – August 19, 2016

Read 2 Kings chapter 2

VERSE:

2 Kings 2:15–The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, “The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.” And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

TRUTH:

The great prophet of God, Elijah, has just been taken up to heaven in a whirlwind of fire. Elisha has asked for God to give him the spirit of Elijah, or essentially the same favor and power that Elijah received from God. God grants that request and when Elisha comes back, the group of prophets can tell. They see the power that was in Elijah now resting on Elisha. When we are around others do they see the power of God in us? Can they tell that we belong to God and are resting in His power?

RESPONSE:

Father, today, I want everyone I am in contact with to be sure of Your power in me. I don’t want the glory for myself, but I desire that You work and move in and through me to glorify yourself in all that You are doing. Keep me focused solely on that today.
