ADHD Gospel, Day 9

Jesus was angry. Read Mark 3:1-6.
For many people, it can seem really odd to think of Jesus as angry. We tend to picture him as the loving shepherd with his arms open, gathering children to himself. We miss that there are certain things that will make Jesus angry. Now, Jesus never sinned, so being angry is not a sin. However, the way we respond in anger and what motivates our anger could potentially be sinful.
Looking at Jesus in this situation, Jesus knew that the religious leaders, we’re trying to exploit this man with an injury. They were using him as a pawn to try to get at Jesus. Jesus is against exploiting people, or using people. That’s just simply not okay, and he knew that. Instead of falling into their trap, Jesus used this as an opportunity to teach the leaders and people there. He wanted to show them that he is so much more than the rules and the laws that they were trying to inflict upon people.
Understanding and following God is not about a list of do’s and don’ts. Understanding and following God is about the relationship that we have with the creator of the universe. There are things that make God angry. Sin makes God angry. Are we willing to get angry over the things that make God angry?
