ADHD Gospel, Day 11

Crazy. Read Mark 3:20-30.
Have you done things at times where people have looked at you and thought you were crazy? They didn’t understand why we were doing what we were doing. Maybe we really were doing something that was completely off-center.
As we read in today’s verses, Jesus was definitely thought to be crazy at different points. In the span of these 10 verses, we see people accuse Jesus three times of being somewhat crazy, whether or not that’s just out of his mind or concerned that he might have a demon. They don’t understand what he’s doing or why he’s doing it, and they’re coming up with any explanation, they can.
Jesus goes through and explains to them how their statements wouldn’t makes sense. The accusations wouldn’t make sense. That doesn’t change that people still struggle when it comes to our Christian beliefs and the entire worldview that we have. There are plenty of people who would think we’re crazy. Many extremely rational people have been called worse because of their belief in Christianity.
The world doesn’t understand and isn’t going to tolerate beliefs that are so different. As believers in Christ, we should expect that just like Jesus was misunderstood, we will be misunderstood as well.
Do people recognize that we are different? Anything that is different is often misunderstood. If we are following Jesus, we should expect that people will misunderstand us as well.
