Try again. Elijah had tried to go be by himself before, but once again, Elisha would not let him. Read 2 Kings 2:3-4.

Then the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him, “Do you know that the Lord will take away your master from over you today?” And he said, “Yes, I know; be still.” Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.

Here, we see that Elisha knew exactly what was going to happen. God had shared with him the plan to take Elijah that day. Because of that, Elisha was not going to miss any opportunity to be with Elijah until the very last second. Elijah still continued to ask him to stay behind, but Elisha was adamant that he will come with Elijah wherever he went that day.

Are we that committed to following through on the commands that God has given us? Even when it seems that everything is standing in the way and when others are giving us discouraging news, are we still standing firm with what God has shared with us? Elisha did and as we will see, that worked out well for him. God is pleased by our obedience and our lives are blessed when we obey God no matter what we face.
