Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 60

Understanding our place. Read Daniel 10:15-21.

We often see a lot of talk about the holiness of God. We understand in our mind that God is holy, but it can be really difficult to truly conceptualize that apart from experiencing the holiness of God. Daniel was in a place where he experienced the holiness of God. As he saw even the smallest glimpse of exactly who God his and how holy he is, his immediate thought was to understand just how unworthy he was.

We may think that we are pretty special. We may even come to the place where we feel like we’ve got great gifts and great qualities. We have to understand that in light and in comparison to the holiness of God, we are nothing. We truly cannot stand. God is holy and the only things about us that are good are the things that are of God.

Now God loves us and desires us and made a way for us to have a relationship with him through Jesus Christ, but we have to abandon the idea that we earned that in any way shape or form. There is nothing about our relationship with God that was earned. Like Daniel, when we are confronted with God, we recognize that we cannot stand and are wholly dependent on him.
