Double Portion – #28
It’s one thing to see God’s provision, it’s another thing to actually experience it. Read 2 Kings 7:1-2.
Then Elisha said, “Listen to the word of the Lord ; thus says the Lord , ‘Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'” The royal officer on whose hand the king was leaning answered the man of God and said, “Behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” Then he said, “Behold, you will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat of it.”

God was going to work through this difficult and dire situation that Israel found itself in. However, the commander who didn’t believe that God could do what Elisha said he was going to do was not going to get to experience it. He would see the result and have it confirmed that God was actually moving, but because of his doubt, that would be all that he would experience of it.
Do we truly believe that God is working and moving? Or do we find ourselves doubting God’s ability? God will prove herself faithful and he will prove himself in a way that everyone will ultimately know that it’s him. However, not everyone will have the opportunity to experience the blessings and the movement of God. Do we believe that God will do what he says he will do? If not, we may find ourselves being proven wrong, but not having the opportunity to experience it for ourselves.
