Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 62

Leadership changes. Read Daniel 11:5-32.

There are a lot of verses that are part of our reading for today. Reading through this account, we see detailed back-and-forth of two major empires. At the time that Daniel was receiving this, he has no idea what this means. However, this is prophecy that was later fulfilled, and we can look back on history and clearly see the Ptolemaic dynasty (Egypt) in the south and the Selucid dynasty (Syria) from the north, they’re fighting during this.

During that time frame, Israel was in the middle as they continue to battle one another back and forth. Eventually, the king of the north kingdom desecreted the altar in Jerusalem.

It can be really challenging to lead through circumstances where leadership is constantly changing and not following Christ. As we seek to understand how God is working and moving in our lives, we can see that God is in control of every aspect of the entire world, not just our own personal life. God was giving Daniel a heads up that there was going to be a lot of drama and a lot of back-and-forth. Knowing this, Daniel was still, encouraged to follow and trust in the Lord.

When we go through leadership changes and see messy back and forths and lots of drama, we can rest assured that God is still in control. God hasn’t missed out on anything, and we can hope in him through every circumstance.
