VERSE:
Judges 3:2–he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience.
TRUTH:
Several evil nations remained in the promised land and the Lord allowed them to stay. He could have wiped them out with a single plague, but instead, God left them because Israel had lessons to learn and opportunities to grow. Unfortunately, instead of seeing this as a chance to obey God and learn the lessons God had for them, Israel rebelled and started following the false gods these evil nations worshipped. How often do we miss opportunities to learn and grow through the challenges that God brings our way? Are we ready to stand firm and obey God, even if that means taking on challenges?
RESPONSE:
Father, sometimes Your lessons are hard and uncomfortable, but I still want to be obedient in everything You have for me to learn. I desire that You teach me and I will continue to follow You and not be distracted. Thank You for thinking enough of me to want to teach me more.
