VERSE:
James 5:11–As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen that the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
TRUTH:
Often, people talk about the patience of Job, but actually, it’s his perseverance that is the main thing to talk about. He wasn’t really very patient. He wanted answers from God and he wanted them yesterday! Yet, even in the midst of all his struggles, he held firm to his commitment to God and God honored that. We are to display patience like the prophets did, based on the verse from yesterday. And, we are to persevere through the tough times just like Job did. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy and will do what He has promised.
RESPONSE:
Father, I will stand firm through the difficult times, with Your help. I know that You have the big picture in mind and You see all that is going on. I know that You will help me to follow in the path that You desire for me, but help me to stand and not cave in when things get difficult.
