Christian Devotional – February 10, 2013
VERSE:
1 Chronicles 10:13–Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord; he did not keep the word of the Lord and even consulted a medium for guidance.
TRUTH:
Saul had been hand-picked by God to lead the people of Israel. Much of the book of 1 Samuel tells of his reign, however here it is just a scant 14 verses telling of his death. This verse summarizes his life and the reason for his death. He was unfaithful, disobedient, and disloyal. When we choose to follow God, He expects that we are committing to be faithful to Him, obedient to Him, and that we will come to Him first with every issue we face.
RESPONSE:
Father, I know I have faltered in each of these areas at times, yet my heart desires to be faithful, obedient, and loyal to You. Unlike Saul, I come to You and repent and commit to follow only You today and every day, faithfully and obediently.
