Understanding Purpose, Day 5

God is a planner. Read Jeremiah 29:11.

This is one of those verses where it really is important to read the entire chapter. This chapter is God telling the exiles of Israel that they will come back. He will restore them. And he reminds them that he has a plan for them. That plan includes prosperity, hope and a future.

We can understand a lot of things about who God is from this chapter. While this verse wasn’t necessarily directed toward us and we need to be careful about making direct application to our lives based on the context, we can understand the character of who God is through this verse. God takes care of his people. God loves his people. God has a plan for all of his people.

As children of God, we can know that regardless of the situation we’re in or what are we are going through, God is aware of the entire circumstance. And he’s working the way through it. God’s plans are always good. God is always moving. When we think about understanding our purpose, our purpose is to fulfill God’s plan for our lives.

When we understand the character of God and the nature of his plan for us, we can be confident that we don’t have to be afraid of the plan. We can trust God and take the step forward that he has for us, even when that step feels completely crazy. Do we trust God with our plan and our purpose?
