Day 14 – Repair your house. In many of the cases, the people repaired what was outside their front door. Read Nehemiah 3:28-32.
Above the Horse Gate the priests carried out repairs, each in front of his house. After them Zadok the son of Immer carried out repairs in front of his house. And after him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, the keeper of the East Gate, carried out repairs. After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah carried out repairs in front of his own quarters. After him Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, carried out repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and of the merchants, in front of the Inspection Gate and as far as the upper room of the corner. Between the upper room of the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and the merchants carried out repairs.

Many of the people didn’t have to go far to carry our the work God had for them. They just stepped out their front door and did what was right in front of them. How often is that the case for us? If we wonder where God would have us to do work to be obedient to him, the answer is frequently right in front of us. We don’t have to go somewhere far away in order to find work that God has for us to do.
Often do things that God is desiring that we do are things that he has put in our path anyway. They are the things that we should be focused on that are right outside our front door. Are we looking for things that close? Are we seeking ways to be obedient to him? Don’t look too far away. What can you do today that’s right in front of you to be obedient to God?
