Christian Devotional – January 2, 2017

Welcome to 2017!! Today I wanted to take a couple of minutes and talk about this coming year. This past year has been a difficult one for me for a number of reasons. I have seen God do great and amazing things, but not all of those have been easy or pleasant to go through. I am more convinced than ever that God has great plans and that He is going to receive the glory for anything and everything that He does, but I have struggled with knowing exactly what I am supposed to be doing through all this. I’ve seen a lot of internal change in this last year and there is a big part of me that is really excited to leave 2016 in the past and move on to 2017!

With all that being said, I am really wanting to see some exciting changes in 2017. I have started by looking at how I want to focus myself this year. Over the past several weeks, I have been looking and thinking a lot about the idea of purpose. I have struggled to see my purpose in a great many areas of my life this past year. I know that my overall purpose is to bring glory to God. I have just struggled with how I am supposed to be doing that on a day by day basis.

Because of this focus on “purpose,” I have made a decision to redirect my devotionals for a sort basis. Instead of going chapter by chapter through a book of the Bible, I am going to focus on the subject of purpose for the next several devotions. I know that God speaks to each of us and has great and amazing purpose for each one of us and I pray that you will take this journey with me as we dive into “purpose” in this New Year!
