Christian Devotional – January 29, 2019

How do we get blessed? That seems to be what everyone is asking these days. We want our life blessed, our kids blessed, our finances blessed, everything. The Bible indicates how we do that in James 1:25.

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Look intently at the perfect law and do it effectively and your life will be blessed. The verses yesterday reminded us just how important it is to do the things that we have heard and here it takes it a step further to help us see that our life will be blessed if we do.

The interesting part of this is that as we study the Word, the more we realize that we can’t possibly do all that is asked of us. When we look at the perfect law, it reminds us that we aren’t perfect. We’re far from it. However, we can surrender to Christ and allow Him to live through us. That is how we do what His Word tells us, by allowing Him to do it in and through us. Are we looking intently at the perfect law and being an effective doer today?
